Trams approached the Podolí Waterworks in 1910 after the completion of the Vyšehrad Tunnel. As early as in 1913, the Ministry of Railways approved a project for a line connecting Podolí with Braník, but the First World War prevented its realisation. However, numerous passengers using the Posázaví Pacific railway line to the countryside from Branik demanded a tram connection to the Branik railway station. After the end of the Second World War, work on parts of the route gradually started, and in 1968 the entire tram line Podolí – Braník railway station was reconstructed.
